1. Auspicious first day of the Drubchen with Tsoknyi Rinpoche
A webcast of the first day of the Drubchen of the Heart Sadhana of Padmasambhava according to Ratna Lingpa, led by Tsoknyi Rinpoche together with the nuns of Tsoknyi Gechak Ling Nunnery, Kathmandu, Nepal on February 20th, 2018. Registration will be available until March 6th.

Drubchen literally means ‘vast accomplishment’. It is a group practice which brings together the entire range of all the skilful methods of Vajrayana, including the complete sadhana practice (with visualization, mudra, chant, and music) with the aim of generating the transcendent environment of the pure realm of the deity and awakening, for all those taking part, the pure perception of this world as a sacred realm.

A webcast of the ten day teaching by Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche on Shantideva’s Bodhisattvacharyavatara, with English translation, on March 7th to 16th, 2018 at the Vajra Vidya Institute, Sarnath, India. Registration will be available until April 2nd (listed under Thrangu Tashi Choling).

The Webcast:
The Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche will teach on Chapters 4 and 5 of the "The Way of the Bodhisattva" (Bodhisattvacharyāvatāra) by Shantideva. Chapter 4 focuses on cultivating careful attention to one’s intention and actions and Chapter 5 focuses on cultivating mindful alertness.
"The Way of the Bodhisattva" is one of the most celebrated expositions in classical Indian literature on the Bodhisattva doctrine of Mahayana Buddhism, written by the 8th century Indian poet and saint Shantideva. The text is written in verse and has ten chapters. It deals extensively with the stages of training one's mind in the generation of Bodhicitta, and also with the essential practices of the Bodhisattva's conduct and way of life. It is considered one of the most authoritative texts on the study and practice of the Bodhisattva ideals within the Tibetan tradition.
Translation will be available in English.

The dance is now performed annually by Dzongkar Choede, at New Year, to avert negative influences and obstacles and to create peace, well-being and positive circumstances for all sentient beings. It is said that just to see and hear this sacred dance conveys a powerful blessing.

The Course:
The ten day meditation and study course is the first part of a five part program titled A Curriculum for Progressing towards Liberation which comprises a preparation for and guide to key practices of the Vajrayana (tantric) path. [For details see: www.jamgonkongtrul.org/section.php?s1=3&s2=3.]

In the initial ten day program, Drupon Khenpo Lodro Namgyal will teach on the preparatory practices for entering the Vajrayana path known as the ‘The Four Preliminary Foundations’. These are: the cultivation of an appreciation for the preciousness, potentials and opportunities of human existence; reflection on death and impermanence; reflection on karma (the doctrine of actions and their consequences); and reflection on the unsatisfactory nature of life in cyclic existence. These four considerations are regarded as key subjects of contemplation in the quest to overcome attachment to the attractions of worldly life. Successfully undertaken they lay a firm foundation for spiritual development.

Drupon Khenpo Lodro Namgyal is the Principal of Rigpe Dorje Monastic Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies at Kagyu Thekchen Ling Monastery, Lava, India, and was Drupon (retreat master) for the traditional 3-year Mahamudra retreat at Pullahari Monastery. Drupon Khenpo-la completed his three-year retreat at Pullahari under the guidance of the Very Venerable Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. In 1991, prior to undertaking the retreat, he completed the nine year Acharya program at the Nalanda Institute, Rumtek Monastery, studying under the guidance of Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche and Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. Drupon Khenpo-la is greatly admired for his skill in making even the most complex and subtle Dharma subjects inspiring and accessible to his students.
